Azienda Elettrica di Massagno (AEM) SA
Azienda Elettrica di Massagno (AEM) SA, founded in 1925, is a Swiss electric utility producing power in their own hydro facility, operating the high/medium and low voltage grid, and supplying power to 10.000 end-users in the south part of Switzerland. AEM delivers a total of approx. 60 million kWh per year. Since 2017, AEM has made important investments in rolling-out smart meters for distance reading of the electricity consumption of its customers. At present, in fact, the smart meter coverage accounts for 100% of the overall district. AEM is committed to introducing pragmatic instruments for successfully dealing with the new market’s frame.
Role in the project
The main contribution of AEM to the project will be the provision of the facilities: customers and existing smart grid fitted by district heating (DH), heat pumps (HP), photovoltaic (PV) and, in some areas, blockchain framework infrastructure. Further to the provision of the Massagno pilot sites for the ACCEPT solution deployment and validation, AEM will also act as a coordinator of the activities in the pilot sites and as a link providing boundary condition information on a local level.
